Background:
My parents are from Jalisco, Mexico. They came to the United States
in the 1980's. My father has always worked in a factory. My mother
went to vocational school and became a home nurse. I am the second
youngest of six children and only the second one to go to graduate from
college. I was born and raised in South Los Angeles. I went to my
neighborhood schools growing up. In middle school I joined a program
called the Neighborhood Academic Initiative (NAI). The program made it
possible for me to attend the University of Southern California (USC).
After graduating from USC I had my son, Asaya. After a year of having
my son I went back to school and am now starting my Fall semester at
Loyola Marymount University to earn my third degree.
My Goal:
My goal as a teacher at LA Promise Charter High School is to
motivate all our high school students to strive for the impossible.
